VISUAL SPLITTING: Some people find that this method of focusing and unfocusing their eyes as they inhale and exhale helps them keep a present focus in their attention. For details, Click here.

DRIVING MEDITATIONS: At times, some people find it useful to go into awareness of their breathing, releasing of physical tension, and close visual focus on the ennvironment through which they're moving rather than drifting absentmindedly. Letting go of impulses toward feeling competitive with other drivers is also useful. If someone else is driving badly, your can appreciate the many who are driving safely and well, and have compassion for the immature or troubled psyche of the bad driver. |

THE ORACLES. One of the brief introductory chapters (Chapter 9) describes two ways of using the Matrix of Consciousness as an oracle. The oracle points to something you might find it useful to pay attention to, or opens up new ways of thinking about a situation or probem, helping you to gain a new perspective on it. The chapter describes a method in which you draw a card from an ordinary deck of playing cards to guide you to a particular cell of the Matrix, and also an alternative methods in which you toss three coins three times. Either procedure sends you to a cell or cells in the Matrix that may help you relate to a life situation in a new and hopefully better way. Writer P.M.H. Atwater also suggests a third and simpler method that is not mentioned in the book: "If you want to use the book as an oracle, all you have to do is say a prayer for guidance and just open the book--wherever you land is what you need, or at least what would be helpful, at that point in time."
